While today's solar eclipse is big news, clouds may block many people's view in the path of totality. Severe weather is also set to make its return to the Plains and South this week, with wintry weather in play for the northern Plains and Four Corners.

Coldest April temperature on record

The temperature at Eagles Nest, NM, plunged to 45 degrees below zero to establish an April record for the United States.

Today's weather outlook

If you're in the path of totality for today's total solar eclipse, keep your eyes on the WeatherRadar. The best viewing conditions will be found in northern New England, with clearer skies also likely from Arkansas into Indiana. Clouds may impact the view in the southern Plains, where a threat for severe storms is in place later today.
