Breakfast Brief
Snow for Great Lakes & NE, cold front descends

The Alberta Clipper that impacted the northern tier and Upper Midwest Thursday is headed into the lower Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast today. While a bit more wintry weather impacts the High Plains again and the Pacific Northwest gets more rain activity, a blustery cold front will cool the central U.S. The Breakfast Brief is posted Monday through Friday at 5 a.m. ET.

The Great Lakes are getting a wintry wake-up call this morning as snow spreads from Wisconsin to Pennsylvania. Throughout the day, the snow will move into the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Residents will need to watch the WeatherRadar closely because temperatures will be in the 30s, meaning a very cold rain, a wintry mix, or snow could fall depending on the local conditions.

Have your alerts switched on if you're getting a start on your holiday travel or finishing Christmas shopping today!

The cold front attached to the clipper system is sending cold air southward across the central U.S. from North Dakota to northern Mississippi and Alabama. The TemperatureRadar has highs only reaching the 10s and 20s from Bismarck, N.D., to Kansas City, Mo. Slightly more tolerable 30s and 40s will spread from Oklahoma City to Memphis, Tenn., and Huntsville, Ala.

If you're wanting much warmer weather, head West where possible record-breaking warmth is being found from southern Arizona to northwest Washington. The 70s and 80s will be around in the Southwest while 50s and 60s are found in the Northwest.

Speaking of the Northwest, residents here will want their umbrellas handy as more showers are in the forecast today. We're looking at you, Seattle.
