The Pacific Northwest and South Florida continue to have active weather, and high pressure brings warmth to the Central region. The Breakfast Brief is published daily, Monday through Friday, at 5:00 a.m. Eastern time.

It was a busy Monday for Florida. A low-pressure system produced downpours and storms, with some areas across South Florida receiving over 3 inches of rain. The low's front will continue to push through the southern region, and there will still be a few lingering showers on Tuesday morning. A high-pressure system will slowly build to the north, providing north winds on Wednesday, lowering humidity and slightly cooling temperatures.

Southern winds will bring a warm Tuesday afternoon across the Plains.

The same high-pressure system will warm up the Central Plains through the Midwest due to the winds coming from the south. Unseasonably warm temperatures will continue on Tuesday afternoon, with highs in the 70s for Nebraska, Kansas, and parts of southern South Dakota, which are about 30 to 40 degrees above average for this time of year. Temperatures will cool off on Wednesday but stay above average for the season.

The Pacific Northwest continues to be active with the following system, which produced heavy precipitation across the coastal areas on Monday. On Tuesday, the same system will lose its punch but still produce rounds of heavy snow across the Northern Rockies and icy roads across western North Dakota. The storm will travel east and bring some showers across the upper Midwest by the evening commute, which will help lower the warm temperatures.

Across the Northeast, a fast-moving storm is moving across southern Canada. A few showers will brush the south Great Lakes, and snow will fall across the northern Appalachians. Lower surrounding elevations will receive rain on Tuesday, as highs will remain in the 40s. Parts of Upstate New York will be switching the morning and afternoon rain to snow on Tuesday evening as the system moves out.
