Daily briefing
Big summer storms linger

June's first full work week will end on a stormy note for large stretches of the Plains, South and East. Today's Daily Briefing, published every weekday promptly at 5 a.m. ET, provides the latest forecast from our team of meteorologists, including the latest in the tropics.

The WeatherRadar will be busy today with thunderstorms showing up from the central Rockies and Front Range eastward into the lower and central Mississippi Valley, Mid-South and northward up the Appalachians into the Northeast.

A stormy Friday will be found across the East and South.

The biggest storms will produce dangerous winds, frequent lightning and downpours. Make sure you have alerts turned on to receive the latest storm notifications.

A hot and summer-like day will bake Texas, the Gulf Coast and Florida as temperatures jump into the upper 80s and low 90s. A few afternoon thunderstorms could break the heat, especially in parts of central and northern Florida and along the Southeast's Atlantic Coast.

The West will remain quiet with most places having a sun-filled Friday. Highs will be in the 70s and 80s with the Southwest hitting the middle 90s. The TemperatureRadar is a great tool to check today's high temperatures.

Tropical Update

The tropics are quiet heading into the weekend. No development is expected through early next week.
