Even more snow on the way

After a multi-day lake-effect snow event brought feet of snow to the Great Lakes over the holiday weekend, more snow is expected through the end of the week. Some communities, like Copenhagen, N.Y., already have feet of snow on the ground.

Over the holiday weekend, a multi-day lake-effect snow event piled up feet of snow, especially downwind of Lakes Erie and Ontario. Copenhagen, N.Y., picked up just over five feet of snow! While the lake-effect snow event will taper off today, a clipper will bring more snowfall to many of these hard-hit areas starting tomorrow.

An Alberta Clipper will track across the northern Plains tomorrow before moving into the Great Lakes on Thursday. The WeatherRadar shows heavy snow spreading across the Great Lakes and the Northeast as this system zooms through.

This next system will not produce as much snow as the previous lake-effect event. However, some spots could see up to a foot or more of additional accumulation. In the Northeast, the snow will be limited to inland communities, with cold rain expected along the coast.
