Flooding possible - October's rain doubled in just days

Flooding possible
October's rain doubled in just days

Several rounds of drought-busting rainfall are expected in the southern Plains, and some spots could see twice their usual October rainfall in just a matter of days. With long-term drought being locked in place for several months, flash flooding is possible.

Weather & Radar app alerts are active ahead of the heavy rainfall and associated severe storms. Specifically, southwest Oklahoma, like in Altus, could see at least 2 to 4 inches of rainfall, with isolated amounts reaching past 4 inches in surrounding areas by the end of the day on Thursday.

Normally, southwest Oklahoma sees up to 2.5 inches for the whole month of October, but multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms could double that, posing a flash flood risk. The WeatherRadar shows the active weather starting Tuesday afternoon, from southwest Texas through Kansas.
