Picturesque low pressure
Have you been watching it?

A strong low pressure moving along the northern tier of the U.S. has not only been bringing cloud cover, rain and storms all week, but it has been clearly shown on the WeatherRadar! Have you seen it?

A picturesque swirl of clouds can be seen on the WeatherRadar, and it's been visible for quite some time now. We've been able to see it churn since earlier this week as it introduced a blast of colder air across the western U.S. In fact, today, high western temperatures are running below average thanks to the north and northwest flow.

This low-pressure system, so beautifully shown on the WeatherRadar, has a cold front out ahead of it causing severe weather trouble today. Read Meteorologist James West's forecast for today. A slight risk has been issued for scattered severe storms.

The WeatherRadar isn't the only place we're seeing the impacts of the strong storm system. The WindRadar clearly shows the gusty conditions the low is producing across the northern Plains today.

The wind's direction tells you where you are with respect to the low pressure, thanks to its counterclockwise flow. Gusty winds are coming out of the west across Bismarck, N.D., Thursday afternoon and are reaching past 30 mph in some spots! Hold on to your hats!
