Southeastern soaker
Soggy Saturday

A stubborn slow-moving storm system will linger over the South and Southeast today and Sunday, bringing downpours and thunderstorms.

A low-pressure system separated by the main jet stream — called a "cut-off low" by meteorologists — will tap Gulf moisture from the south and produce widespread downpours and thunderstorms today.

As the WeatherRadar shows, these downpours will come in waves and soak the South and Southeast, including Pensacola, Fla., Atlanta and Montgomery, Ala. Several inches of rain are likely through Sunday, with localized flooding possible.

If you have outdoor plans this weekend, be sure to review the WeatherRadar before heading out and follow along with these tools to stay weather-aware.
