Flood threat for some
Soggy South

While drought conditions have increased across the South, some much-needed rain will stretch across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee to end the weekend. However, flash flooding is a concern for some.

Moisture streaming in from the Gulf of Mexico will help produce widespread rain today across much of the South. While the heaviest rain will set up in eastern Texas into Louisiana, much-needed moisture will impact a larger area across the region.

The WeatherRadar shows rounds of rain setting up along the Gulf Coast to Tennessee and Kentucky. A few thunderstorms are possible from southeast Texas into the Lower Mississippi Valley and Mid-South this afternoon and evening, but severe weather is unlikely.

Rain totals will vary, but 2-4 inches will fall along the lower Mississippi Valley and central Gulf Coast. Flash flooding is possible across parts of eastern Texas, Louisiana, western Mississippi and southeastern Arkansas. If you live in a flood-prone area, make sure to keep an eye on the WeatherRadar and check to see if your Weather & Radar app alerts are turned on.
