Strong storms firing up in the Midwest

Strong storms are firing up in the Central Plains and Midwest this afternoon and will continue this evening and into the overnight.

While it was a stormy start for many across the Midwest this morning, another round of showers and storms are in play this afternoon and evening as another disturbance moves in from the central Rockies. With warm and humid air in place, storms will fire up once again stretching from eastern Colorado into Iowa.

Tuesday's severe risk

Slight and enhanced risks, levels two and three out of five of severe storms, stretch from Iowa and northern Missouri southwestward through Kansas, southeastern Nebraska, eastern Colorado, and the Oklahoma Panhandle. The strongest storms will be across southern Iowa, northern Missouri, and northeastern Kansas. Des Moines, Iowa, Garden City, Kan., and Kansas City, should all be on alert for severe weather this afternoon, evening, and into the early morning hours of Wednesday.
