Tropical wave about to enter the Caribbean

Tropical update
Tropical wave inches closer to Caribbean

Tropical wave entering the Caribbean has a chance to develop late this weekend into early next week.

The tropics continue to spin tropical waves moving off from Africa, but there is another wave that is closer to home. Luckily it does not seem that it will be a worry for this week.

The tropical disturbance we were monitoring earlier this week located to the northeast of the Caribbean has dissipated. Another tropical wave, still very disorganized has grabbed our attention as this one inches closer to the lower island chains of the Lesser Antilles.

Track the tropical disturbance in our WeatherRadar

If this system were to develop, it would have a better chance to do so late this weekend or early next week as it moves over the central Caribbean, near Jamaica. It is here where conditions could become more favorable like less wind shear and be able to feed off the warm waters. We will be closely monitoring this system through the weekend.

6 easy steps to take now to be ready for a hurricane

Another tropical wave is about to exit the African continent and the National Hurricane Center is giving this system a low chance of developing in five days. Fortunately, this system is very far away, and we have plenty of time to watch it. There are many conditions that could change as this system is forecast to slowly track westward. We’ll be here to bring you prompt updates through its journey.

The image shows an intense tropical cyclone over the western Pacific, east of Taiwan and the Philippines. The centre of the system is depicted as a light purple and white vortex with a clearly visible eye, surrounded by a ring of red and orange areas indicating the strongest wind speeds. A white arrow marks the typhoon’s predicted track towards the north-west, in the direction of Taiwan. To the west of the storm lie the Philippines, with the cities of Manila and Cebu; to the north of these lies Taiwan, with Taipei. Further west, the Chinese coast, including Hong Kong, and parts of Vietnam can be seen. The coloured wind map shows predominantly green areas outside the storm’s core, indicating significantly weaker winds. White streamlines illustrate the typhoon’s anti-clockwise circulation in the Northern Hemisphere. The highest wind speeds are concentrated around the eye of the cyclone.
